·         1.5 tsp cayenne pepper powder

·         2.5 tsp turmeric powder

·         2 tsp ginger powder

·         2 tsp onion powder

·         2.5 tsp garlic powder

·         2.5 tsp cumin powder

·         2 tsp cinnamon powder

·         1.5 tsp pepper powder

·         110 ml soy sauce

·         40 grams of water

Ingredients for the shawarma sandwich

·         1.5 onion

·         2 cloves of garlic

·         1.5 red bell pepper

·         2.5 tbsp sunflower oil

·         10 to 12 pita breads

·         120 grams of natural hummus

·         10 to 12 leaves of iceberg lettuce

·         1 avocado

·         Garlic sauce

Procedure

1) Cut the tempeh into thin slices no more than 0.5 cm thick. Then cut these slices into quarters, so that you get small strips.

2) Mix all the ingredients for the marinade well in a sealable container. Place all the tempeh in it, close the container and shake gently so that the marinade spreads over the tempeh. Make sure all the tempeh is seasoned. Leave the tempeh in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

3) Preheat the oven to 240 degrees Celsius.

4) Cut the onion into half rings and fry it (over medium heat) with the sunflower oil in a frying pan. Crush the garlic and fry it.

5) When the onion is translucent, add the bell pepper to the pan. Fry until the bell pepper is softer in texture.6) Finally, add the tempeh shawarma to the pan. Turn up the heat slightly and fry until the tempeh turns brown.

7) Meanwhile, bake the pita breads in the oven for 3 to 4 minutes.

8) Cut open the pita breads and spread a layer of natural hummus on the inside. Then place a leaf on top and a few slices of avocado on top.

9) Fill the rest of the pita bread with the tempeh shawarma and serve with garlic sauce.
