Soybeans
We only use high-quality soybeans from certified suppliers who meet the strict standards for non-genetically modified organisms for our tempeh. These beans are imported from Canada with a non-GMO certificate and sent to us in a sealed container. Our suppliers also give us the guarantee that only soybean seeds are used for sowing, and therefore no genetically modified seeds. By importing from Canada, we are also assured that production is done according to environmentally friendly production practices and ethical sourcing. We keep the CO2 footprint as low as possible by transporting the beans in bulk via sea transport and not using air freight.
We are sometimes asked why it is not stated on our label that our tempeh is GMO-free. The government imposes rules on labels and products containing GMOs. If a product consists of more than 0.9% genetically modified ingredients, the manufacturer must indicate this on the label. If there is nothing on the label, the consumer can assume that the product is GMO-free. More information can be found at:
